Social media technologies are continuously transforming the ways human interact with each other at the national and international level. These changes constitute a fundamental shift in the media landscape and allow students to have greater opportunities to voice their opinions and connect with each other for an increased influence over ideology and communications. As a result, the conventional approaches to Social Media communications have become more and more challenged. This puts an added emphasis on leveraging social media to engage users and propagate ideas, messages, products, and behaviours.
BS Social Media program takes an in-depth look at the relationship between Social media, society at the global level, theories, Social media research, mobile technologies and the impact on human behaviour and lifestyle, and examines how users capitalize on social media and how the stakeholders interact, to support their ideas and opinion. This program is being offered in two areas of specialization, namely Social Media and Digital Media Communication.
Students will get hands-on experience in creating comprehensive social media knowledge, communication outlook. Students will have to choose Internship in a media organization as part of the degree program; which will be worth 3 Credit Hours. Students will also choose one of the specialization fields to do a professional project, independently. The professional project will be worth 3 Credit hours.
